Legendary Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Champ Royce Gracie cousin Renzo to fight Shamrock on Showtime Feb 10

Released on = February 1, 2007, 1:46 pm

Press Release Author = Judy Mulkern

Industry = Small Business

Press Release Summary = Royce Gracie Organization is excited that cousin Renzo is
putting the family art, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, to the test against opponent Frank
Shamrock on the new Showtime venue. Shamrock says "I will fight every Gracie on the
same night."

Press Release Body = Showtime, in an effort to keep up with what is popular, has
developed a mixed martial arts showcase of its own, which shows much promise. Renzo
Gracie, an amazingly talented fighter, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, is set to
take on wrestler Frank Shamrock. It\'s not likely that Shamrock will get his wish to
fight every Gracie, let alone in one night. There are just too many excellent
fighters in the Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Family. Royce Gracie along with his New
England representative Jim Hughes back Renzo with full confidence: "It will really
be a superb display of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu\'s effectiveness," says Jim Hughes. "Our
students are excited, they are coming from all over Connecticut and Massachusetts
including our satellite schools of Boston, New Haven, Norwich, Storrs, Southington,
Glastonbury, Danbury, and Agawam MA to watch it. Some will travel as much as two
hours just to meet up, socialize, and see what Showtime is putting together." Perry
Siegel of oasisforwellness.com and an expert in personal health and fitness says,
"From what I could tell in the televised interview, Renzo appears to be really
getting ready. I am sure he is preparing diligently with his weight training, diet,
cardio, and his proficiency in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Shamrock appears in good shape
as well. Renzo is pushing 40, you have to admire him for getting in there, still, I
believe Renzo will prevail."
Frank Shamrock is determined to win. He believes the Gracie family disgraced the
Shamrock family when Royce defeated Frank\'s older brother Ken in the first UFC.
"Sales of Gracie Family instruction tapes skyrocketed after the first UFC, no
doubt, the Shamrock clan has the complete collection and has wore them out twice"
says Mr. Hughes. This determination does not scare die-hard Gracie fans such as Jay
Bell from Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Boston. "Renzo is a top fighter and I
fully expect him to submit Shamrock in the first round"! Jay\'s friend, training
partner, and fellow Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Coach Brad Wolfson disagrees "I think it
will be in the beginning of the second round". Bruno "the Brunami" Lichtenstein of
Lichtensteinfinancial.com is excited to see whether or not Renzo will go for
Bruno\'s favorite submission, The Bear Naked choke. Apparently, that is some move
that Mr. Lichtenstein made up and claims it is his original contribution to the
sport. In the end Showtime is doing every mixed martial arts fan a favor by giving
us more of what we want to see. Jim Hughes of Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu New
England is just happy that Jiu-Jitsu will get more attention. "Jiu-Jitsu and MMA
will come out on top no matter who wins the fight, and I am happy to be a witness
to the furthering of this wonderful art and I am grateful for Showtime\'s effort."
